I have the firmware that reader Eriks got from PlayBase and sent to me all packaged up with the flashing tool and drivers ready for download.
It's big- 125MB- and a .zip file. The firmware is already set up in the ./image directory. Check the !Readme1st.txt file for instructions.
Download here from 4shared.com and drop me a note to let me know how it went.
Thanks again to Eriks.
Thanks for posting the firmware files.
ReplyDeleteAndyPad have released an update to Ice Cream Sandwich. Do you think this update could be applied to the playbase as they have the same hardware?

Worked great for our PlayBase Go. As noted in one of the comments
ReplyDeleteearlier, Recovery Mode starts by connecting to the USB
while Volume Up is pressed.
Best

Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteSince we know how to recover, it might be worth a try. Please let us know how it works out for you. This would be a killer find.
Mike
That's great to hear, Mathias!
ReplyDeleteI updated the original post with the much-improved recovery instructions.
Mike
Hi Mike,
ReplyDeleteWas hoping you'd be tempted to try it, since you have 2 playbases :)

Mike,
ReplyDeletethanks for the firmware and thanks again to Eriks.

Hi Mike,
ReplyDeleteI ended up in your blog trying to find a way to connect my original playbase go and upgrade it to ICS.
the correct driver and the recovery directions here really helped.
Since I had the valid files from karuma (and the Batchtool from Andypad website also mentioned here), I have just successfully upgraded it to ICS. So far working like a charm.
If interested in trying, just let me know.
thanks a million for your help.
Regards, Carlos
Carlos,
DeleteHow's ICS running? My PB is so flaky, I have stopped messing with it. The website has been MIA the last few times I've tried it and I didn't get any response from PB on twitter, so I am a little disenchanted right now with the whole mess. If you have the process for upgrading to ICS, I'd be interested.
Thanks, Mike
Where can you get ICS for the Playbase?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question. My PB is basically a paper weight now. The website seems to be gone and I never got any reply from PB when I contacted them through twitter. I've given up.
